The Virtue of Sending Durood-e-Ibrahim

Sending Durood-e-Ibrahim

(salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ) on Friday holds immense virtue and is one of the most emphasized Sunnah acts of the day. The Prophet ﷺ explicitly instructed the Ummah to increase salawat on Fridays, as it is the day when those blessings are directly presented to him.

Durood-e-Ibrahim is the most complete and authentic form of salawat, recited in every salah, and sending it intentionally on Friday brings both spiritual elevation and closeness to the Prophet ﷺ.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Increase your sending of blessings upon me on the day and night of Friday, for your blessings are presented to me.”
— Sunan Abu Dawood 1531, authenticated by Al-Albani
Another narration states:
“Whoever sends one salutation upon me, Allah will send ten upon him.”
— Sahih Muslim 408
Sending Durood on Friday isn’t just a ritual — it’s a direct cause for Allah’s mercy, tenfold reward, and a means of earning the Prophet’s ﷺ intercession on the Day of Judgment
